Professional
I like to consider myself a jack of all trades. I started off my career as a graphic designer, have a lot of experience writing and using code (front and backend), and spend a considerable amount of time planning around UX. My favorite area of work is in frontend development, because I love being at the converenge of users, designers, clients, and fellow developers, and being able to tie it all together into an intuitive user interface. I've always enjoyed solving puzzles, and there is no shortage of puzzles when doing web development.
Personal
My favorite thing in the world is being active and out in nature. I'm the kind of guy who will go out for a ride on my mountain bike and then spend half the time looking at animals I find in the woods. My sports have varied greatly over the years, based on conditions and even more so on what friends I'm with. The sports that are constants from year to year are kayaking, mountain biking, trail running, swimming and basketball.
I'm an avid DIY'er, and take pride in my side projects. Remodeling the house, making a piece of furniture, upgrading the car or motorcycle, fixing a broken lawn mower, etc. Art has always been a huge part of my life, especially where it can be combined with engineering to do something purposeful. One of my favorite past times growing up was to study my aquarium and change elements about the tank to improve visual appeal and also make it a healthier environment (changing the layout of rocks, creating new lighting effects, making a quieter filtration system, etc).
